Electrical Load Forecasting – A New Paradigm to Forecast Building Energy Demand from Solar Irradiance.
Starting in Fall 2013
UTSA has been developing intelligent computer codes and sky and cloud imaging technology that could potentially revolutionize the renewable energy industry. The investigators plan to use these technologies to better predict the amount of energy consumed in buildings in a wide region by incorporating the weather and irradiance information obtained from the solar irradiance forecasting tools. The student will be establishing the correlations between solar irradiance and temperature with the energy demands from buildings using data analytic tools.
